What Size Hinge to Use? The general rule is that a hinge strap should be about 1/4 to 1/3 the width of the gate or door. If the gate or door is over 6’ tall, then a third hinge should be utilized (typically one hinge for every 3’ of height).
Installation Specs
The supplied 1/4” x 5” carriage bolts will accommodate a gate up to 4” thick. Bolts will need to be cut if you have a narrower gate.
Slotted strap for easy adjustment (adjusts 1/2” either way of a 1” gap between gate and post).
Easy to install: gate sandwiched between straps offers strength and support (gate post and gate stile insert recommended).
Filler blocks are required if rails are thinner than stiles (the use of solid cellular material such as Azek is recommended).
